Fathers are a Beautiful Glimpse of our Heavenly Father

Fathers are amazing, aren’t they? Think about your favorite qualities of your dad. Each one of them could also describe God. What a blessing that we have a relationship here on earth that reflects the way the Lord loves us. Because we are all so far from perfect, even the best qualities of our fathers do not describe them all the time. The love of dads fails, just like we, as daughters, fail. However, all of the qualities that may describe our earthly fathers, will ALWAYS be true about our Heavenly Father. Always. As you read each of the forms of love below, think about how they describe your father and how they describe Jesus. Bask in the knowledge of your Heavenly Father’s complete, unending, perfect love.

My Father is a promise keeper.

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations. –Deuteronomy 7:9

My Father is jealous for me.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. –Ephesians 2:8-9

My Father protects me.

My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my Savior. –2 Samuel 22:3

My Father is slow to anger.

The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. -Psalm 103:8

My Father is comforting.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. -2 Corinthians 1:4-5

My Father is constant.

He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. -Isaiah 40:28

My Father is caring.

I call on the Lord in my distress, and He answers me. -Psalm 120:1

My Father loves me unconditionally.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate me from the love of God. -Romans 8: 38-39

If you have lost your father, are hurt by your father, or don’t know your father, we want to encourage you in knowing you have a Father who will never leave you, loves you unconditionally, and sent his Son to this earth to save you. When we say yes to Jesus, He adopts us as His own and calls us His daughters. What an honor to encounter a love so great that no one on this earth can fulfill.
